Market Research Analyst (Intern)

Understanding the markets both up- and downstream of our technology is key to ensuring Seratech’s products can be positioned correctly with the market and offer competitive, sustainable material solutions.

We are looking for an intern with a passion for sustainability, who is excited to maximise the potential impact of brand-new technologies by getting involved at the ground floor. Given the role, strong numerical skills and the ability to concisely summarise findings in the form of reports are highly desirable. This role will require an intern to fully grasp some of the technical aspects of the technology and surrounding field, as it is expected that they will be required to discuss this independently with potential customers and other market players. Hence, a scientific background with specific experience in geology would be beneficial, along with some experience in business, finance or modelling. There are no technical or software requirements – but we are keen for you to utilise any specialist skills you may have in your work with us.

Key responsibilities involve:

  • Conducting market analysis of olivine, our main raw material, to understand current availability and distribution channels

  • Exploring geological maps of magnesium silicate minerals to help understand future options for exploitation

  • Modifying existing cost models to explore the influence of olivine availability on revenue

  • Contacting potential customers and other influencers in the value chains for i) carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), ii) cement and concrete, and iii) other sustainable construction products in order to understand their key product requirements

  • Carrying out a comprehensive analysis of other businesses operating in the low carbon concrete and CCUS sectors

This internship comes with some significant responsibility, but also a great team environment where the contributions can really be felt.

This is a part-time position that will run from November 2022 to March 2023. This role offers remote or hybrid working options. There may be an opportunity to continue working with Seratech, depending on the successful candidate’s situation and internship outcomes.

This internship opportunity is provided by the Centre for Climate Change Innovation and funded by the Green New Deal. Candidates must be enrolled on a full-time course at a UK university for the duration of the internship. Remuneration for this internship is the London Living Wage (£11.05 an hour).

For more information or if you have any questions, please contact careers@seratechcement.com.

To apply, please send a CV and cover letter to careers@seratechcement.com and ccciinternships@imperial.ac.uk.

Candidates will be assessed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
